What Is Physical Therapy (PT)?

Physical therapy is the treatment of an injury or physical dysfunction to the neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems. Physical therapy focuses on achieving pain-free optimal functioning to enhance the quality of life through the use of therapeutic exercises/activities, modalities, and manual therapy.

How Will I Benefit From Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy aids in educating you on the best way to care for your symptoms now and into the future, including problems with pain, weakness, and limited mobility. Not only does physical therapy bring relief from symptoms with each passing visit, it also builds your strength and endurance, enabling you to decrease, if not prevent, your symptoms from occurring again. In addition, physical therapy helps to speed up recovery from injuries and surgeries.

 How Do I Start?

We highly recommend going to see your doctor to discuss physical therapy treatment. At your doctor’s office, you will need to get a referral. Some doctors will recommend other physical therapy clinics, but remember you are in charge of choosing your providers. Tell your doctor you would prefer to go to Restoration Physical Therapy. We ask that your doctor fax your referral to our office and provide you with printed a copy as well.

After seeing your physician and being recommended to begin physical therapy treatment, getting an appointment with us is very simple! Call the location that is most convenient for you and the office staff will be more than happy to assist you with scheduling your first appointment. As a courtesy to you, we will verify your insurance coverage and provide you with your plan's coverage for therapy. View which insurances we are in-network with below.

What Should I Bring?

You will need to bring a current Photo ID, insurance card(s), and if applicable, please bring your physical therapy referral from your referring physician. We will also need your completed new patient paperwork on your first visit. You can find this paperwork here. This will shorten your time spent at the office and allow you to see your therapist quicker.

As far as clothing and shoes, we ask that you wear comfortable gym clothing and sneakers to allow the therapists to efficiently evaluate you. No jeans, please. If you will need to change your clothing prior to your physical therapy evaluation, we ask that you arrive early enough to do so.

What Should I Expect During
My First Visit?

We can’t wait to meet you! Please wear a mask upon entry to follow our Covid-19 protocols. Our front office staff will ask for your ID, insurance card, referral, and paperwork at sign-in. If you would like to wait until your appointment to fill out your paperwork, please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.

You will be thoroughly evaluated by one of our licensed physical therapists, then a unique plan of care will be established for you based on the clinical findings. A home exercise program will be prepared to aid in your recovery, and the frequency and duration of visits will be determined, if not already specified by your doctor. It is not uncommon to experience soreness or discomfort in the initial stages of therapy, which will optimize your full rehab potential.

We are so thrilled you are choosing Restoration Physical Therapy! If you have any questions, feel free to contact either of our offices. Our front office team will be happy to assist you!
